After going to see Star Wars:The Force Awakens with one of my friends, she said “you should totally be Rey for Halloween.” Even though I’d been planning on a different character that’s been on my list for awhile (I’m not telling who it is), I decided “eh, why not”.
Her attire is definitely not something I could easily piece together, so after bits of planning and even some advice from others in the costume industry, I decided on using the thick muslin scraps I had lying around. They definitely weren’t dark enough, so I first had to tea dye them.

I had considered The King of Pop for awhile, partially since I’ve been inspired by his dance moves and sometimes impersonate them (Someday I will learn the moonwalk…. some day….), as well as having been the Queen of Pop previously. When looking through a pile of clothes James’ sister was tired of and giving away, I found a black sequin top that I was totally thinking looked like his attire. Finally! lol.
I already had the sunglasses from my Marty costume, and a pair of white gloves with silver sparkles in them that I had been saving for the occasion. 😉 I had my fedora which I wear out to most parties with my friends (and call my “party hat”), and black skinnyjeans- I think the same ones I wore for my Carmen costume.

When the show Rick & Morty came out, James & I loved it. James does an awesome impression of Rick (as well as other characters/people, but too many to name now. lol), and I thought it would be great for him to be Rick for Halloween….so I pushed him into it.
Since Rick & Morty is actually inspired by Doc Brown & Marty Mcfly from Back to the Future, I figured James could be Rick for his Halloween party at work, and then be Doc for my Halloween Party so I can be Marty. (A Morty costume would be too plain & boring).

Since I don’t like debuting my costumes until my Halloween party, I wanted to come up with some costume to wear to Comic Con (first full weekend of October) when James was going, dressed as Tina Belcher from Bob’s Burgers.
I came up with Linda, figured it’d be simple enough to throw together. I found a red long sleeved shirt at Goodwill, and had a couple of red buttons (for the couple seasons where she actually had buttons on her shirt).
