After James & I decided to be April O’Neil and Donatello for Halloween, I got to work searching for my April pattern, but I figured out how to do most of his costume.
I went out and bought a purple blouse with stretchy cotton fabric at Goodwill, and cut some strips from it. Then I took some fusible interfacing and ironed it on in the center of the the longest strip. I had James try on and then figured out how far apart to make the eye holes.
After that, I figured he could just get a “green man suit” from any commercial costume store.

Having been together less than a year, James and I were anxious to do a couples’ costume thing. We were both fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles of the 80’s. (My younger brother kinda roped me into fandom when it was airing.) The Nickelodeon version of the show had also gotten us excited about it as well since we are both big fans of animation in general, and he’s an animator.
I had put together a list of costumes that I was considering for Halloween, and April O’Neil had been on it for a little while so I figured it was time to execute.
